Training Sites

Dual systems. Multiple clinics. Real rural rotations.

Sioux Falls Family Medicine Residency is co-sponsored by Avera Health and Sanford Health — two of the region's largest health systems. Your training spans both hospitals, two continuity clinics, and required rural rotations across South Dakota.

Why dual sponsorship matters

Most family medicine residencies are tied to one health system. We train inside both.

That's clinically broader — and professionally broader. You graduate with two systems on your resume and a regional network most programs can't build.

Rural rotation sites

A four-week rural rotation is required.

Several rural teaching sites have been carefully selected and prepared for resident participation. One designated site sits within 30 miles of Sioux Falls — for residents whose personal situations need a rural rotation within commuting distance. Housing is provided at the rural teaching sites.
