Abby Serpan, MD
University of Kansas School of Medicine – Salina
Chief Resident Dr. Dahl was drawn to the variety family medicine offers and cannot wait to practice outpatient, inpatient, emergency medicine, and obstetrics with C-sections. Dr. Dahl enjoys the program because of the culture, work-life balance, and the phenomenal faculty with a wide array of medical interests. These factors, coupled with top-notch obstetrical training (many residents receive close to 75-100 deliveries by the end of their first year) made Dr. Dahl’s decision easy for picking a program. She does not deny the rigorous training residents will undergo in residency but appreciates how they are not expected to sacrifice their life outside of medicine. Her advice to MS4s is to enjoy your free time and “Treat yo’ self” since you have worked so hard to get to this point of training.
In Dr. Dahl’s free time, you might find her at the ball diamond, cheering on her favorite MN sports teams, or at the family lake cabin with her husband, Brooks, and son, Myles.
